I am excited to share my latest publication, a retrospective on Peter Beagle’s The Last Unicorn fifty years since its publication. At The Atlantic:
Here’s a link to my latest article, a review in The Forward of the new Steinsaltz Humash distributed by Koren:
Some people have requested the speech I gave at Kemp Mill Synagogue this past Shabbat. Here is a link: https://yoseflindell.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/haazinu-dvar-torah.docx
I wrote a story based on Star Trek: the Next Generation for a contest a couple years back. I didn’t win the contest, and there aren’t other markets for it, so here’s the story.
Over the holiday of Shavuot, I gave a talk discussing the 10 Commandments, or Aseret ha-Dibrot. One of the topics I discussed was the meaning of the term Aseret ha-Dibrot.
Those thoughts became this new article published today at The Lehrhaus, which builds on existing scholarship (particularly an article by Professor Meir Gruber) to create a literary picture of the Aseret ha-Dibrot:

Since I might as well use my website from time to time, I have uploaded the speech I gave yesterday at my son’s bris. You can find it here.
I’m pleased to announce that my first published short story, We Were Once of the Sky, which was published in Beneath Ceaseless Skies in 2014, is now available in audio from StarShipSofa!
Check it out right here: http://www.starshipsofa.com/blog/2017/07/19/starshipsofa-no-494-yosef-lindell/
I wrote an article exploring the differences between translations and commentaries of the Torah that Orthodox Jews use in the synagogue. I argue that a new translation and commentary is needed. Check out the piece at the Lehrhaus:
My latest short story, “A Future Far Too Bright,” is now available to read for free at Clarkesworld Magazine. Check it out here:
It’s about a boy and his dad–and how a time machine affects their relationship.
I had the idea for the story several years ago, but it took me a long time to get around to writing it. I’m so pleased that I was able to sell it to Clarkesworld.
I finally decided to create a website. I’ve thought about blogging for years, but never actually got around to it. I recently sold a short story, and as I was writing a bio, I thought it would be nice to have a link to a website.
I doubt I will blog regularly, but I will update my publications and add lecture source sheets from time to time.
Please take a look around. I think you will find that this site reflects my rather eclectic set of interests.
I am leaving the default picture of the ocean courtesy of WordPress because it looks nice.
